2024 Kestener Paulinshofberg Spätlese - 94 points, James Suckling

This cool and elegant Spätlese has terrific vitality that easily balances the touch of unfermented grape sweetness. I love the fresh herbal notes in the long, precise finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Our Stance

What Bastgen wines stand for

Three things characterize every wine we bottle: organic cultivation, authentic origin, and the work in the steep vineyards of the Moselle.

01

Organic since 1993

We have been farming organically since the 1990s – out of conviction and with a great deal of manual labor on the steep slopes. Today, we are among the few organic wineries on the Moselle whose vineyards are over 85% located on steep terrain.

02

Prädikat wine estate

All of our wines are bottled as Prädikatsweine. This means: no enrichment with sugar, no artificial manipulation. Only grapes, vintage, and origin in the glass.

03

Truly Mosel

Steep slate slopes, spontaneous fermentation, and a clear focus on the essentials. That is the Mosel. We don't want our wines to feel manufactured; we want them to show where they come from.
